Rustic Photo Shoot

I recently found a gorgeous green dresser SITTING IN MY SISTER'S BASEMENT.  Who keeps furniture this pretty in an unfinished basement?  Really!  So I of course took it and have been using it for photos the past couple of weeks and am currently deciding the dresser's next assignment.  The first photo shoot with the dresser was featured on Amy Atlas last month which was exciting!  I created a rustic (go figure!) sweetscape using yellow and white, with desserts including cake pops, french macarons, a rose cake and yellow candies.  I also used a librarian ladder to add additional flowers and sweets to make it more interesting.  I loove the barn as a backdrop.  It was too perfect not to use!  Check out my Amy Atlas feature here or the photos below. :)

Tiffany Blue Bridal Shower

Tiffany Blue is a popular request for dessert tables lately and I love it! My friend Cassie asked me to create a dessert table for her soon-to-be sister-in-law using her black pottery barn desk and I was THRILLED at her request. I LOVE when a hostess asks me not only to do a dessert table, but to use a unique piece of furniture OTHER than the typical dining room table. So fun!! The white and turquoise looked gorgeous with black as the background color.

I had FOUR shelves to deck out with dessert!
Rosette cake with bunting.  It's hard to see but it reads "love is sweet." Appropriate, right? ;)

Salted caramel cupcakes!
Mackenzie + Joey = the happy couple :)
I found this mini turquoise stand at Homegoods the day before the shower.  Had to have it!
French Macarons
Chocolate mousse served in mini shot glasses.  On the wooden spoons I stamped m&j.

Kentucky Derby!

When I think of the Kentucky Derby, thoughts of fancy hats and mint julep come to mind!  I created this Kentucky Derby sweetscape for Derby weekend and had tons of fun working with traditional derby colors and making a "Run for the Roses" cake. Congrats to I'll Have Another for the big win, even though I was pulling for the Virginia-bred horse, Bodemeister.

If you look hard you can see 2 horses in the background of this photo!
How gorgeous is this hat my Mom made?!
Red rosette cake as centerpiece

Mint julep, of course
Mini chocolate silk pies
Chocolate bourbon cake pops!  So good!

Mickey Mouse Birthday Party!

My nephew's 3rd birthday was this past week and he requested a Mickey Mouse birthday party. Character parties make me cringe because I immediately think of decor found at Party City - yikes! My sister hates primary colors so that made this party even more tricky (since Mickey wears RED and YELLOW). I'm always up for a challenge though and I had a lot of fun creating this party. The theme was 'Silhouette' Mickey -- It turned out so cute and Jackson had such a fun party!

For the backdrop, I covered a board with pinwheels made out of newspaper.
Black fondant mickey cake topper
Recycled frappuccino bottles
Black silhouette cupcake toppers

Silhouette cake pops - love them!

I love these rice krispie mickey faces

Happy Birthday Jackson!

Easter Party!

This HAS to be my favorite party/sweets table so far! I know I say that a lot, but I really mean it this time ;). I love Easter, so of course I loved planning this party for my MOPS group and our kids. Oh and I LOVE my MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) ladies; we have such a great time together and our kids get along great! I invited them all out to my parents house for a play date and egg hunt. We couldn't have asked for more sunshine - it was a beautiful morning! Big thanks to AMY ATLAS for featuring the party on her blog!

Peanut butter rice krispie bird's nests
Vanilla bean bunny ear cupcakes!
Love this banner I found at Pottery Barn Kids!
The children's chairs were adorned with white fluffy tails!

Kiddos snacked on hummus and carrots in mini terracotta pots, bunny cheese sandwiches and goldfish "disguised" as carrots ;)
I found these metallic easter eggs and the pink tin at the $1 spot at Target!
Thanks to Shindig Parties on Etsy for these water bottle labels!
I love how the sugar cookies turned out!  So fun working with Easter pastels.
Picked this garland up at PBK as well!  Saved me the trouble of making my own :)
Our guest of honor! A baby chick we rented from Rocklands Farm.
And of course an Easter Egg hunt!
